Project overview
The Royal Air Force (RAF) in the UK required a dependable power solution to support critical operations at one of their key sites. Recognised for their high standards, the RAF partnered with Constant Power Solutions to design and deliver a bespoke generator package. CPS was selected due to our industry reputation, proven track record, and strong client referrals. We were delighted to work on a project to provide power for the Royal Air Force.

Project scope
To meet the RAF’s requirements, CPS supplied two 275kVA AC250S containerised diesel generators. These generators were designed to deliver reliable backup power for UK critical operations, particularly in a location prone to power outages.
Key features included:
- Noise Compliance: Generators achieved a stringent noise output of 70dBA at 1 metre, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Customised Containerisation: Robust enclosures were designed to protect the generators and ensure secure operation.
- Rapid Load Response: The system was engineered to take the site load within 15 seconds, but CPS exceeded expectations with a load time of just 12.5 seconds.
Site Visits and Planning
CPS conducted multiple site visits throughout the project. These visits allowed us to meet with stakeholders, provide updates, and conduct surveys before and after the plinth and cable ducts were in place. A dedicated project manager oversaw the entire process, including installation, cleaning, and final handover. The final site visit involved comprehensive Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), client training, and a detailed project handover.
Delivery and Challenges
The project was completed within an 8–12 week lead time, which included design, manufacturing, delivery, and installation. Logistical challenges, including access to the secure RAF site, were addressed through meticulous planning and collaboration. To meet deadlines, the CPS team worked overtime and on weekends, ensuring the project’s timely and successful completion. Advanced engineering solutions ensured compliance with strict noise levels and operational demands.
After-Sales Support
CPS provided full commissioning, SAT testing, and on-site installation assistance. Operator training equipped RAF personnel with the skills needed to operate and maintain the generators effectively. Post-installation, CPS carried out regular reviews during the warranty period to ensure optimal performance and client satisfaction.
The RAF expressed high satisfaction with the results. CPS delivered a high-quality, bespoke power solution that not only met but exceeded expectations. This project highlights our capability to handle critical and complex projects for prestigious clients, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in the power solutions industry.
This collaboration with the RAF underscores CPS’s expertise in delivering reliable and tailored power solutions for demanding applications. We are proud to provide reliable Power for the Royal Air Force in their vital operations and look forward to future partnerships.
