Project overview

A UK-based NHS Trust contacted us through our NHS Generator Solutions webpage. They needed a reliable backup power system for a new MRI scanner facility.

The site required a 1000kVA standby generator to support critical imaging and medical systems. Backup power had to be seamless to prevent any disruption to patient care.

CPS was chosen for our experience in healthcare generator systems and our ability to deliver bespoke, UK-manufactured solutions.

Project scope

With familiarity delivering supersilent standby power for NHS Hospital applications, our team got straight to work. Our team carried out several on-site visits throughout this project. These included assessments before quoting, detailed technical meetings after the project was awarded, and training during final handover.

The agreed lead time was 10–14 weeks, covering custom design, build, and commissioning.

A challenge arose when planning permission was initially denied for the proposed roof-mounted silencer. Working closely with the project consultant and local council, we quickly redesigned the containerised generator to feature an internally mounted boxed silencer, manufactured in-house, while still meeting the original acoustic and spatial requirements. This quick turnaround kept the project on track without compromising performance.

Throughout the project, we provided continued technical support, including working with the client’s switchgear supplier to program the DSE8660 controller for full synchronisation with mains power. Our team also liaised directly with the G99 commissioning engineer to ensure correct setup of both generator and switchgear controllers.

Post-installation, our after-sales support didn’t stop. We delivered on-site training for the NHS facility team and remained available to provide expert guidance during commissioning and early operation, ensuring long-term reliability and confidence.

Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) were carried out at key project milestones, helping the client feel assured every step of the way.

Thanks to the collaboration between our dedicated client and trusted supply chain, we were able to work seamlessly as one team and deliver this NHS project successfully and on time.
