RAF AS400 Power System

Project scope

Earlier on this year, we were contacted by a previous Ministry of Defence Client. We were named outright as the generator and LV Switch Panel supplier and Installer, due to our past success working with the MOD.

We began the project by conducting a complete site survey. This included measuring the site and specific locations on site, aswell as design work. Already in place, the client had a power system from the 1980’s so it was definitely time for an upgrade! The team got to work designing a fully updated and improved system.

The generator best suited for the application was a AS400 400kVA  open-set Diesel Generator with a Scania engine and Mecc Alte ALternator. We then designed and manufactured a LV Switch Panel with a built in 500kW resistive loadbank breaker.

AFTERSALES

We fully installed this system on site along with loadtesting and commissioning. Then we provided the client with full training on how to operate and maintain the system before completing the handover. As of current, we are in bidding to win the 3 years service contract.

Within 3 months we took this project from inquiry to handover, although we did face our fair share of setbacks. The remote location of the site was often a challenge, we used our specialist HIAB and Crane service provider to site survey to plan, deliver and offload in precision. Weather at the location was harsh, we were working really hard in all weather conditions and never missed a beat.
